I just don't want to settle to wish the "Happy Engineer's Day" only to Engineers, though we Engineers by profession deserve it the most, I want to extract the essence of being an engineer, so that every one gets the best learning out of this day and the Engineer feels proud anyways!
Being an Engineer is to be keen and attentive to know the fact of science and engage ones thinking to create something new that didn't exist in togetherness before but is made up of the same fundamentals of existence and most importantly to be of some value and use to all the beings in this cosmos.

If we keenly look at human intellect, every one of us with this unique gift of intellect will become an engineer only if we identify ourselves with the amount of ignorance we have and be humble to know more, because once we are genuinely humble, the knowledge (fact of cosmos) is in our realm of know and the gift we humans have (the intellect) engages itself to create something new that is of value and use.

Engineer's Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Indian civil engineer, Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya very well known as Sir M Vishweshvaraya or Sir MV to his close colleagues. He was born on 15th September 1860 in Muddenahalli village, Karnataka to Mokshagundam Srinivasa Shastry and Venkatalakshamma.
He completed his Engineering degree from College of Engineering, Pune and finally worked on several projects which contributed significantly not just to the Indian Society but his inventions made their way into the world everywhere. He was conferred with several awards and honors like Bharat Ratna, Knight Commander of the order of the Indian Empire, etc...

Krishnaraja Sagara Dam (KRS) is named after the then King of Mysore, Krishna Raja Wodeyar IV, who commissioned the construction of this dam. The ace engineer Sir MV was the mastermind behind the design and construction of this majestic KRS Dam built between 1911 - 1934.

The Automatic Sluice Gate operation in KRS Dam is an absolute novel creation of Sir MV which is copied across everywhere in the world including Panama Canal.
